Alma de Viejo’s 11 tracks mix new Pablo Corradini originals with traditional pieces uniquely interpreted via the players original and refined sound blending the swing of jazz and the fiery rhythms of Argentina. There are joyful moments of pure improvisational freedom and studies in rigid, complex composition all with the undulating, hypnotic rhythms of Argentina.
The themes build on the varied rhythms of Argentinian folkore; zamba, chacarera and tango elegantly coloured by improvisations and classic jazz forms creating a wonderfully engaging performance which offers a unique listening experience every time.
On this CD Pablo Corradini is collaborating with exceptional stars of the Italian jazz scene, Marco Postacchini (sax), Simone Maggio (piano), Roberto Gazzani (double bass) and Gianluca Nanni (drums and percussions) and special guest, the extraordinary Argentinian saxophonist Javier Girotto.
